Bio

Clarissa Patricia Wickham Hinds, a native of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, is currently the Sixth Grade teacher of Excelsior Junior Academy. She gained her elementary and secondary education in her home district, and her teacher training preparation at the Cyril Potter College of Education, Guyana. Clarissa completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in English, and a Minor in Religion, at Caribbean Union College, Trinidad, and consequently she acquired a Masters of Education, with concentrations in Curriculum Instruction and Inclusion, at the Atlantic Union College. She is currently pursuing studies for her Doctoral program.

Her experience, as an educator comes from many years of dedicated service in Guyana, the East Caribbean Conference, the Greater New York Conference, and a few non- denominational schools. Over the years she has taught in elementary, middle, and high schools. Clarissa’s main areas of teaching are Bible, English, Spanish, and social studies, but she is also equipped to serve in other areas.

Clarissa believes that her Seventh day Adventist upbringing has greatly contributed to the Christo–centric philosophy of education, which she so passionately embraces. Her greatest joy is to see her students surrender to Jesus Christ. She likes to travel and will continue to immerse herself in the Spanish-speaking cultures, during this school year.
